Reviewing TV Cooking Shows – are They for Everyone?
Today’s cooking shows are not really for everyone. If you would watch any of the TV cooking shows today, you will see how impressive the hosts are, but curiously, you will likely have difficulty relating to them. They practically do not have to use utensils in order to whip up amazingly great dishes. You can liken them to cooking samurais. They can expertly maneuver frying pans and pots without worrying about boiling water or scalding oil.
Not All Cooking Shows are for Average People
In truth, not all professional chefs can do the amazing feats that cooking show hosts do today. This can be intimidating for some people. Regular folks may end up wiping ingredients off the stove, the floor and the ceiling if they attempt to do half of the tricks that chefs do in TV cooking shows. There are shows that will confuse you terribly with the ingredients the chefs use. People often end up scratching off potentially Great Recipes because they don’t know where to find the ingredients. This is why you can probably say that not all cooking shows are meant for everyone.
It’s Not about Showing Off
It is always nice to watch a show that teaches you how to whip up great dishes. Unfortunately, many people cannot relate to them. It is very important for chefs hosting these television cooking shows to be aware of culinary practicalities. It is also important that they touch on some issues that are of importance to average individuals. They could answer questions like what kind of frying pan to purchase or potato masher to shop for. Of course, there are some cooking shows that do just that, but then again there are other shows that barely touch on practicalities. Many of the chef hosts seem to take their shows as opportunity to show off their skills.
Teaching How to Cook Everyday Food
TV cooking shows should focus more on teaching people how to cook everyday foods. Although there are many people who appreciate Gourmet Cooking shows every now and then, majority of the viewers would like to learn new home cook dishes. They can relate more to shows that offer recipes that they can add to their repertoire of home cook recipes.
Cooking shows should also focus on using tools that people actually have. It’s great to have a fancy pepper dispenser but not everyone has it. Most people have regular kitchen tools and equipment, so TV cooking shows must focus on this. Of course, the host can always suggest helpful tools, but he or she should always endeavor to relate to the audience at the latter’s level.
The TV Cooking Shows You Can Relate To
Although, not all TV cooking shows are for everyone, there are several cooking shows that people will truly appreciate. If you have a cable or satellite television, you will certainly enjoy a number of great shows that you can relate to.
Regardless of your food preferences, you will definitely find a show that you can enjoy. Albeit you may not enjoy all of the shows available, still, you will definitely learn a lot of things from those that you prefer to watch. You can learn how to choose the right ingredients like flours, meats, spices, oils, vegetables and more. You will learn how to prepare regular meals and easy-to-make desserts.
One great cable channel is the Food Network. They offer a wide selection of TV cooking shows that you will definitely enjoy watching. If you love a good dose of comedy while you are learning, you should watch out for Alton Brown’s cooking show. Regular folks appreciate Chef Brown’s show because he teaches people how to choose their kitchen utensils. He also teaches people different approaches to cooking. He is also a joy to watch, so it is not really surprising that he generates great ratings for his show.
If you love home cook meals, you should also catch Paula Dean’s show. She is a down-to-earth Southern lady who definitely knows how to whip up amazingly delicious home cook dishes. She really knows her stuff. She has also several books that you can purchase. There are still other TV cooking shows that teach regular folks how to create mouthwatering meals. People may not really relate to all cooking shows these days, but they can certainly enjoy those that they can relate to.
